Courage

“Courage!” he said, and pointed toward the land… (Tennyson)

Breslau

Courage is a necessary component in the new endeavor I undertake in my Toastmasters career. I have just been officially assigned to be the Club Coach for Blountly Canadian. Can take this small group to the status of Dignified Club? My work is cut out for me, but I am up for the challenge. I approach with open mind and open heart, prepared to put in whatever effort is necessary to make improvements and increase the Toastmasters experience for all of the members!

Transformation

Observing the grade 8 class through the past 7 weeks has gifted me the pleasure of seeing their transformation. The first couple of speeches and evaluations presented were average (as expected) but my session this week was nothing short of miraculous. The speeches were well-prepared, and the evaluations were thoughtful and constructive. It was especially touching to hear a goodbye speech from a Korean exchange student who is returning home this week. His presentation provoked tears from the other students, especially from his evaluator. I was also witness to a confident, dynamo of a young lady who has the makings of a fantastic presenter and performer, even at such a young age. What an incredible inspiration to watch their growth!

The most cherished Christmas decoration from my childhood. Beaten, ratty, and his beard is a dirty ash grey. The song he plays when I pull on his string still brings a warmth to my heart and brings to mind holidays of long past.

Living My Passion

Passion is EVERYTHING. I am passionate about living life to its fullest while BEING instead of constantly DOING, and inspiring other people to do the same! Toastmasters is but one of the avenues for me to live and share my passion. I love inviting others out for the experience, and am always pleased when one of my guests decides to become a member. It’s the same little thrill I experience when I suggest meditation and it’s received skeptically at first, but followed up with a warm embrace. PASSION is life!
